LABOR MARKET INFORMATION CONFERENCE COMING TO TULSA IN MAY TULSA,
OK – On Wednesday, May 12, 2004, Tulsa area businesses, government agencies
and workforce professionals can participate in no-cost training designed to
provide tools that can help them rewrite Tulsa’s future. The OESC will present
the Tulsa Labor Market Information (LMI) User’s Conference, a two-day workshop
hosted at the Hardesty Regional Library in Tulsa. This event, a service of the
Economic Research and Analysis (ER&A) division, will give participants a
better understanding of LMI and its many uses. Topics
covered at the training include an introduction to LMI, the O*NET and Oklahoma
Wage Network systems, employer surveys, U.S. census data, and how to use LMI in
your day-to-day business. The event is part of a series of LMI conferences
provided by the ER&A division all over the state. The training is available
at no cost to participants. Labor
market information offers
a broad selection of projected, historical and current information. It
is a source of
socio-economic data and an integral part of the economic, employment and
educational development of an area’s infrastructure. Taken from household and
employer surveys as well as administrative databases, LMI is analyzed in order
to produce basic statistics, such as average wage levels, along with employment
and unemployment estimates broken down by industry and occupation. It is key to
marketing, research and economic, educational and individual career planning. The event will be held at the Hardesty Regional Library located at 8316 East 93rd Street South in Tulsa on May 12 and 13, 2004. Anyone interested in attending should contact Zenetta Kendricks at (405) 557-7122 or visit our conference website at www.oesc.state.ok.us/lmi/LMIConference/default.htm to sign up online. ### |
